Bought this bmw 740i 2001 from an uncertain human, I took a chance. I knew that stimulus had to go to a car, single mom, kids, law student. I’m confident In myself as far as navigating the web, and applying myself to a new skill. I was given codes. I purchased 2 crankshaft, camshaft, o2 sensors (2) . I started at 1pm with an iPad, ratchet, screwdriver, allen keys and YouTube tutorials. Took me several hours to fix. Car has been in limp mode.
NOW, I LEARNED MY LESSON, never listen to what the average bear suggests. I was told limp mode is a security system , shuts the car down suspected a carjacking.NOPE!! After buying this code reader, logging on to their web.... all sorts of helpful info. The ENTIRE TIME I JUST NEEDED TO TEST THE PRONGS ON THE SENSOR THROTTLE, clean it, be sure all wires connected, several were not, check replace fuses.
I could have saved myself 100s of dollars and disappointment. I’ve learned that I am capable of more then what we give ourselves credit for. It never hurts to read, familiarize one self with the unknown. Definitely invest in a code reader, more importantly their information online web.
