Automatic windscreen wipers wipe even when it's not raining. They respond to low angle bright sunlight, and sensor thinks it's rain. I have auto winshield wipers on my Peugeot, and it doesn't have the same problem. For once the French engineers seem to have been more effectiive than the Germans!
