really awful
cooling system problem
This was the third replacement water pump that I had to put on the car.

The plastics used for the hose fittings, thermostat housing, and electric coolant pump housing should never be rated for that use. Over time they become extremely brittle and cause excessive leaks. The repairs are virtually impossible due to limited work spaces and frequency of problems. It is not financially feasible to replace all the cracks and leaking issues on this car. It is a serious issue and one that should have been rectified by a design change years ago. Why do automakers continue to use inferior materials in making their products?

BMW series 5, 535xi, 2008, 39000 km. Water pump expected to last much longer. Expensive repair. Failure without warning while outside town. Expensive towing, $1,300.
In 2004, computer failed and 4 modules because of water infiltration from sunroof, very expensive repair costs.
What parts will give up next ?????.
I will never buy BMW again.
