DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE! This BMW is four years old and has had more than it’s fair share of issues. Most were attempted to be fixed by the nearest, and most incompetent, BMW dealer, Cardenas BMW in Harlingen, Texas.
The most recent issue is the air conditioning system. Of course it happened right after the warranty ended. The driver’s side vents blow cool air, not cold air. The passenger side vents blow warm air. When taken to an auto ac specialist, I was told the refrigerant level was low and probably due to a leak. The system was recharged for almost $100 because the type of refrigerant needed is more expensive than the more common type. The specialist also added a dye to find the leak. The recharge immediately produced cold air but over the next month the issue returned. In 100 degree Texas summer days, this car is unbearable to drive. The specialist could not find the leak source but did confirm there was a leak because the refrigerant level was low again. He suggested the leak might be in the coil which is located under the dash and would require a lot of labor to disassemble the car’s interior to get to the coil.
This is one issue which cannot be ignored like the other annoying issues with this BMW. BMW has brainwashed us into thinking they are a superior quality brand but they are far from that. This car spent months at a dealer who could not figure out half those issues. The dealer never offered a loaner while the car was in their shop. Now I am out of warranty and now I will have to pay a lot of money to this dealer to probably not even fix the issue. DO NOT BUY THIS, OR ANY BMW FOR THAT MATTER. You will be throwing money away. You’re better off buying a domestic car that actually works and is half the price.
