This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owns a 2001 BMW 530ia. While driving 35 mph, the passenger side air bag deployed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 206,000.
I had stoped behind a stalled car on US95 in las vegas, nv and was rear ended and pushed into the car in front. Both the drivers seat and the passenger seat broke, and we were both nearly prone and under the lap and seat belts. Also, the air bags did not deploy which I am not sure they should or shouldn't have. I have no knowledge as to what will be done to the car since it could well be "totalled" as a loss. No internal injuries for the driver and passenger, but some scrapes and bruises.
On October 31, 2003 at 9:30pm, airbags(front, head - driver side/front, side, head - passenger side) deployed as driver was starting the engine of a parked car. The impact shattered the front windshield and driver received a concussion. Driver is currently suffering from headaches, ringing in the ear, sleep-disorder, sore/stiffness.
