Just picked my car up from BMW on 9/8/18 following repair of two (2) broken motor mounts and a/c blower. A few days later, on 9/11/18... I'm stopped at a red light and vehicle just shuts off and puts itself in park. Had to get it towed to BMW and they're advising the engine is seized, metal particles in oils, possibly main bearing failed.
I have an extended warranty through CarMax, but sounds like this is going to be a battle. BMW said it's going to be a long process. BMW literally just had my car and did a 27 point inspection, nothing was wrong and now this. I still owe on the car and super stressed I'm going to end up with an expensive lawn ornament that I have to continue to pay for.
Update from Sep 17, 2018: Main engine bearings failed, came apart and caused the crank shaft to stop spinning and seize the engine. Provided oil change receipts. Warranty company now wants to take engine apart to determine cause, seems like trying to find a way to place blame on me. Horrible experience given it’s already stressful to have a car with a blown motor that you still owe in.
