Purchased a 2012 BMW 528i in January of 2018 from Walpole Mitsubishi. It had 86,520 miles on it. It currently has 99,000 miles . On September 16th 2018 I was driving home when my vehicle suddenly began to lose power and became almost impossible to steer. I safely made it into the breakdown lane. I checked the onboard system for the car and everything was good, there were no warnings or problems .
I had my car towed to BMW gallery of Norwood Massachusetts , Carlos the service agent called me and told me there was a plug loose and they tightened it, Carlos also told me they wanted to keep the car overnight to make sure it drives properly . Carlos then paused and apologized that I was the wrong David and he was sorry for confusing me with another David Wilson.
Carlos then said he would call me back with the right information. Approximately 45 minutes later I get a call from Carlos and he stated that my engine was dead. I asked Carlos how would my engine just die without warning . Carlos said the engine oil pump had died causing the engine to die. Carlos exact words was it just crapped out. I did not receive any further information . Carlos informed me that it would cost $15,000 to fix my car. I explained to Carlos I have a 3rd party extended warranty that will cover 50% of the repair cost.
I called BMW corporate to ask that they cover the other half because I had no warning the the engine oil pump was dead, I just got blind sided. I believe this is a defective design that BMW allowed to happen. Rodrico from BMW gallery is a service manager and he offered me a 20% discount on the repair costs, I explained that 20% does not help me! I called Adam from Walpole Mitsubishi and it was his opinion that the last time I had my car serviced at BMW they probably had some young inexperienced kid work on my car and he forgot to put a screw back in. I'd like to sue BMW for the repair costs and Walpole Mitsubishi because they did not warn me that at any given time the oil engine pump could die without warning, I was not given any safeguards to protect me from this happening.
