It appears that there is a recall for this on certain 2006 BMW 330 xi; however, I have not been notified on my particular car. I also have a 2003 325i and had this problem at about 60,000 miles, had it "fixed" at my expense, and then BMW issued the recall. I had to drive 2 hours 1 way to get the switch replaced.
I am hoping that they expand the recall soon to include my vehicle as I am concerned that my front passenger is at risk because the airbag keeps turning off.
