Driving with my family on the highway on a clear and sunny Saturday afternoon when all of a sudden we hear a loud boom like a gunshot. We were looking around to see what the problem was when I hear the wind blowing from above and I can see through the shade vents that the sunroof glass had shattered. I got off the highway and looked at the glass which has a rectangular shaped hole about an inch wide and maybe 8 inches long right over a piece of the metal sunroof mechanism. The glass is protruding upwards as if it was pushed from the inside out. There were no cars in front of me and I was not passing under an overpass. Thankfully the shade was closed so the glass bits were caught and didn't fall onto my family. Very strange and scary.
