Basically water leaked from the rear left door onto the rear carpets causing them to smell like mildew. For your information; Each door has small seam openings on the front and rear corners at the very bottom of the metal door frame, allowing the usually small (1 oz?) amount of trapped rainwater to drain out when the door is opened.
Since this a factory issue, I expected BMW to cover this cost instead they did not. I went and contact BMW consumer affairs and they did not help in the long run because my car had just gone past factory warranty. I'm very disappointed.
$1069 to replace the vapor barrier seals on a door???!!!!! Are you kidding me. Make better judgement and buy an Audi or Mercedes Benz.
SAD.
