"takata recall" while stopped at a red light, we were struck from behind by a vehicle who then ran from the scene.the impact was severe enough that my passenger, julie coppersmith lost consciousness for a few seconds from either hitting the dash or just from the violent movement forward. She was wearing her seat belt but the shoulder restraint failed and the airbag did not deploy. The malfunction was acknowledged on the cars information system.
2 recalls: I have two recalls on my car and BMW does not have a solution or a potential solution or date. They will not suggest a fix or replace anything. The report claims high risk of car setting on fire. This seems like a pretty significant issue.
Takata recall: All began from purchase 09/2013 had engine bolt fixed on recall, but since several engine work performed due to loss of power when driving, had replaced coil/tune up done, several gaskets in the engine hasd to be replaced by BMW dealer, and dealer can't fix vehicle for "sputtering/back firing" when sitting at light or stationary it just stutters. Time to time driver window will not roll down when in car. Also, the seat belt light chimes to put seat belt on and no one is in passenger seat. Stereo lights pixels burning out & sound from time to time the speakers has muffled sound or poor quality sound. Brought car with 20,000 miles and now has 57,000 miles and issues with engine is way too much for low mileage.
There is a report by auto check report showing that there is a frame or structural damage record. I have been trying to sell the car and due the information that appeared on the report the price offering is below the real price. I have been experiencing problem to sell it because the same problem appeared and even car max express express the same situation. In 08/28/2014 an auto auction in Texas, auction announced as frame damage. In a few days I will be sending a copy of the report. Thanks in advance. Updated 10/16/2017

I had just left my house for work and was a few minutes down the street at a light when I saw white smoke coming from the dash/hood area. I pulled over and turned off the car and got out within seconds the car was up in flames. I could hear the car turning itself on even though it was off and I had the keys. The fire department came. My car literally burnt to the ground. They said it seemed like an electrical problem. If I wasn't at a stop, or if I was on the freeway the car filled so quickly with white smoke that I wouldn't have been able to see and could have crashed or been trapped. BMW did nothing and took no responsibility. They tried to offer me a discount towards a new BMW if I signed an nda. I know see all the news reports and wanted to make sure this was reported. This happened in 11/2016. I have video and photos
Fumes coming into cabin, BMW service center states that it is the initial burning off of the fuel when car is started, yet it can be detected an hour after the car has been running, especially if the air conditioning is
I have been to the dealership several times since this recall and the problem is still not fixed. It's been over a year I've been on a waiting list and we are trying to sale the car and can't because of the recall! this is ridiculous. We need the parts ordered and dealt with it's been over a year.
I remember driving home on the interstate and smelling a burning smell. I had the windows open but it didn't seem like it was coming from outside. Later, the car's HVAC blower fan stopped working. During repair, the blower motor resistor and the harness that plugs into it were found to be badly burned. The harness wires for ground and power were missing insulation (burned away) and the copper was badly corroded. The trim panel directly under the affected area has water staining and scorch marks. BMW na refused to pay to fix due to mileage even though car is only 4 years old and is clearly a water intrusion problem (leading to a short circuit and burning) caused by either a design or manufacturing issue
I drove from my garage to the highway (about 5 minutes) I entered the highway and gained speed up to about 55 mph, I was on the highway for about one or two minutes when I heard a loud explosion and the sunroof in my car had blown out. There was not traffic in my local highway since it was about 1:30pm cst. The sliding cover in the sunroof was open to let light in and I was showered with broken glass, I pulled over and exited the highway, stopped looked at the damage and it looks like if the sunroof had explode out, like caused by inside pressure blowing it out. I was lucky no else was with me or the highway had more traffic or I could have had a serious accident. I contacted BMW but they deny that there are any defects with the sunroof, they say it was most likely a rock. There are no object inside my car and rocks travel sideways not come from the top. Please, please have this investigated, besides the cost is the higher chance of a serious accident.
The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact noticed a constant chemical odor inside the vehicle. The dealer cleaned the vehicle and stated that the odor originated from an unknown source inside the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.
