Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 BMW 328I. The contact stated that there was a burning odor for months coming through the vents within the vehicle. Months later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 17V676000 (electrical system) and 17V683000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer was contacted (bert ogden BMW, 3201 N 10th St, mcallen, tx 78501, (956) 683-6477) and indicated that the remedy and repair parts were unavailable. The dealer provided no mention of a loaner vehicle until the remedy and parts become available. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V071000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 66,700. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

Takata recall. It has taken forever for BMW to right this problem. In September I finally got a communication from BMW that the remedy was available, but it wasn't true. I called my dealer, and they said that they didn't have the parts. They said to call back last week. I did. Now I'm being told that they can't fix it until Dec 13. This is ridiculous. I should at least be able to get a loaner since supposedly my car is unsafe, but none has been offered.

You've mandated a recall for these parts however the dealers are refusing to fix them by giving the customer the run-around stating the parts are not in stock and that they cannot get the part for months. On the contrary, the parent company BMW usa tells me directly that the parts are fully available and should only take 1-2 weeks to arrive when not in stock. People will die because the dealers are not taking on the responsibility mandated by the recall. I have all BMW dealers within 100 miles of my residence and they are reporting the same brush off.

Takata recall. Rec'd recall notice in 3/2016, talked w/dealer shortly after and they said they didn't have the parts, then again 6/29/2016 still no parts, had service done in early 2017 and asked again, was told they expect shipment in next couple months--"likely takata but not sure". called 6/29/2017 expect parts end of summer; BMW will send letter & then I to call for service. Last called dealer 8/23/2017 and still no parts and no estimate of when they might get them, told me to wait for letter from BMW. I think of this potential hazard every time I drive. Can be distracting as I'm driving and am planning what to do in case I expect deployment of the airbag--hold up my arms or what? please help!

The contact owns a 2010 BMW 328I. While driving at an unknown speed, the front passenger occupancy sensor warning indicator illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty, however, a discount towards the repair costs was offered. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000....updated 10/04/17 information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The passenger side "seat mat switch" failed, disabling the SRS system. A local BMW dealership replaced the defective part charging me $1264.20. This vehicle was purchased new by me; was never involved in an accident; had accumulated 48116 miles on the odometer. BMW refused to acknowledge responsibility; however this problem has been reported a number of times to BMW and it did acknowledge prior years' problem with this part and authorized warranty extensions for over 70,000 vehicles.

A safety recall notice was filed in March 2016 stating the following: "in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's side air bag, excessive internal pressure could cause rupturing of the airbag inflator, resulting in metal fragments striking the driver or other passengers, potentially resulting in serious injury or death." It has been over a year, and BMW still alleges that parts are still not available to fix this issue.

While BMW has issued a recall for the parts, they seem to be playing games with me and not getting any work done regarding the part in question needed for the airbags. I was told by my local BMW South motors that the part needed to be ordered from BMW North America. Then I found out the part had to come in from germany, which for a recall of such grandeur, I find strange the part has to be imported. Anyway, it has been close to 3 months that I am in this ordeal with no solution done and nothing done to my airbags, thereby risking my safety all because BMW North America does not want to disclose any details of their doings. They told me the part was sent, but South motors hasn't received the part. While I believe South motors, I do not believe BMW N.a is being honest. They refused to disclose any details such as tracking information or anything relevant to this investigation. They also have refused to cooperate with South motors or myself to get the problem resolved. They have not acknowledged the product may have been lost in transit for all we know...because they refuse to disclose any information. My life and safety are on the line each time I get into my car and if BMW is going to play cat and mouse with consumers the way it's doing then I think they need to be chastised for this. Since they will not listen to me and have refused to help me out in any way, I am forced to turn to this Agency for help. I look forward to getting answers, an admission of fault and apology from BMW, as well as most importantly, the correct part, brand new, sent to South motors BMW, to be promptly replaced so that my airbags are in working order and safe for myself and fellow motorists. Thank you for your attention on this matter.

"tamara recall" - after calling my dealer to ask when my car will be taken care of I still have not been informed about when that will happen. I received my recall letter early last year. It seems to me as though someone is dragging their feet. Maybe your Agency needs to light a fire under those involved in expediting this recall fulfillment.

Takata recall BMW promised to replace defective air bag in 2016 late summer. But now it is January, 2017. They still haven't provided parts to get it fixed in a timely manner. I contact BMW customer service. They are just giving bs. There are 17 similar customers like me waiting for parts. BMW should not allow to sell any new cars in nc until we get the parts. Because all new car comes with new air bag. If they can sell new car, they should have air bag. So why not put the safety of existing customer in the highest priority?
