Steering wheel light comes on vehicle does not start steering wheel locks I hear from a forum that this is a serious issue can be a reason for a fatal accident. I'm Asking to replace it with the new BMW 2016 340I Free No Cost to me what so ever
I WAS CHARGED OVER $1150 (and that does not include $120 tow bill) for replacement of the steering wheel column. I brought the column home and found that only the ELECTRONIC STEERING UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE.
WHY CAN'T JUST THE BOX BE PURCHASED INSTEAD OF THE TOTAL STEERING COLUMN (WHICH WAS FINE)? ANOTHER RIP OFF FROM BMW (Big Money Waste)!
Apparently I am not the only one affected by this problem. The E90 (3 Series) and others 2006-2007 have an issue with a Steering Wheel Fault. The car does not start, you cannot turn the steering wheel. Had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer and fortunately under CPO. NHTSA has numerous complaints for the 3 Series related to the "STEERING". There are several posts online as well E90 with replaced Steering Wheel Columns due to these locks. Called BMW and they said they do not have a bulletin out, how convenient, yet they removed the feature from the 2008 model. We all need to file complaints with NHTSA...This happened while parked, but imagine if you could not turn while driving, this could cause an accident and is a Safety Issue.
