This has been a periodic problem for over a year. Once at a red light, I started braking and my car just started accelerating (like a race car) as I was braking I threw it in reverse - no one was behind me then I put in neutral until the light turned. Yes I was about to have a heart attack, I was so scared not having control of my car. I drove home very slow, frightened that it might happen again. My husband took a short drive and just sprayed up something. It happened a few more times with no scary problem, until I went shopping and I was leaving the parking lot put my car in reverse, started to brake and the engine accelerated (like a race car) and my brakes did NOT BRAKE. I smashed into a parked car --- thank God no body got hurt. Brought it into a BMW dealer and they said there is NO problem and they never heard of that happening before. I think that is BS
