The car has been a fantastic drive since I bought it in 1998; it had 89000 miles then. Never had an issue though I've replaced numerous wear items. Fuel pump, alternator, water pump, just the normal wear items. I've replaced the air idle control, mass air sensor as well as plugs wires cap rotor to solve this problem. Just replaced all the relays and cleaned the temp sensor connecters and the problem remains. It will start and run great for about 20 minutes then without warning die. It has to cool down before it will restart.
A long time ago I worked on a Volvo that was doing the same thing and ultimately found a part under the front fender that protected the electrical system that had gone bad but I don't think the BMW has such a part. Any suggestion will be helpful and welcomed greatly.
