My car was pampered. All Oil changes before 10,000 mile suggested interval. Plus, Oil level checks frequently between changes. Only needed to add 1/4 to 1/2 quart between changes. I kept Meticulous records. Used only recommended oil. At 82,000 mi., "add 1 litre oil" light comes on. Never had this before. So I immediately changed oil that day within less than 10 miles (I was near home). One week later and about 250 miles, engine starts running poorly. Took straight to my mechanic, who was ex-Audi mechanic for many years. Car had NO compression in #1 cylinder. He put scope down spark plug hole and saw catastrophic engine failure due to hole in piston and ring failure. Audi dealer first plays dumb. But I find out about current class action suit (google Jeni Rieger v. VW Audi) and read it. Happens on LOTS of 2.0 engines - (all between 8,000 and 82,000 miles). Dealer that played dumb later admitted they just replaced engine the month before on another car w/ 50,000 mi. Photos of piston failure in lawsuit. Covers all 2.0L engines 2013 - 2019. Most cars indicate problem w/ excessive oil consumption before failure. Not mine. All of a sudden, despite excellent lifetime care. Audi agreed to pay half the $17,000 engine replacement cost. I'm already out the $700 spent at mechanic too, plus $140 towing. Audi CANNOT or WILL NOT tell me if manufacturing defect is corrected, and they refuse to admit there is a defect. Only 1 year or 12k mi. warranty, so I'm selling it. Every USA owner of 2.0L Audi included in class suit file in 4/21. Suit ongoing.
Audi should fix this and pay for it. These are expensive, high-end cars w/ engine failure at low mileage - due to ring defect. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! And they need to tell owners paying for EXPENSIVE repair if the problem is fixed!!!
