I own a 2001 Audi Allroad, which I purchased through a dealer certified pre-owned. There have been several unusual issues with this vehicle, such as the water pump breaking down at 50,000 miles and many electrical issues. The most recent is the car seat heater, which malfunctioned causing a short and burning a hole in the driver's seat (which is leather). Luckily, I caught it before smoldering or a fire could have ensued, which could have caused me bodily harm or risked the lives of my children had we been on a long distance trip. I am in contact with Audi and a local dealer who upon inspection of the vehicle will determine how to proceed with the repair. My biggest concern is that I am unable to find any reports on Audi although they are notorious for having mechanical issues. This one trumps all others in my opinion. This is a major safety issue and I know of one other person who has experienced this, but it was with a VW passat wagon.

We have an Audi A4 quattro 2001, which has had problems from the beginning. The issues are electrical. The rear window started going up and down spontaneously without pushing a button and now will not go up or down at all. It stays half way down all the time. You can imagine how the cold air feels on our baby in the back seat. The windshield fluid light stays on as well as the oil light. We even took the car for a $80 oil change thinking that was the case, but the light just stays on. Audi dealer refuses to look at it without being paid 120/hr and I think this is just too much of a coincidence for all of these electrical issues to be happening at the same time. Thank you for kind attention to this matter.
