I am the owner of a 2019 Audi Q8, purchased on 8-8-19. I have had repeated issues with the driver's side seatbelt twisting and retracting the twisted portion up into the B pillar. I have had this issue repaired 3 separate times at my local dealership, most recently in June of 2023. Just 2 weeks after having it repaired, it twisted for the fourth time in early July. It has therefore been witnessed and documented by the dealership each time it has been repaired. The issue has never happened to me and has always happened after my husband has driven my car. So I cannot tell you what exactly is happening to cause this. There is a TSB regarding this problem. It is NHTSA ID Number: 10233615 published on 3-29-23 (the original TSB was NHTSA # 10158643 published on 4-1-19). The Manufacturer Communication Number: A6923872058455_6 I am concerned that there could be a safety issue while the seatbelt is in this twisted state. Thankfully I have not been in any accidents/incidents where the seatbelt malfunctioned. But how can I confidently be assured that the seatbelt will continue to function properly? It is not normal for a seatbelt to due this. I contacted my dealership on July 21 to have it repaired again under warranty, but they told me that I would have to pay to have it fixed again. They claim that it was never covered under warranty and that they repaired it each time for free. This was the first I had heard that is wasn't covered under my warranty. I escalated this issue to Audi of America, reference #05805277. I heard back today that the dealer claims "outside influence" as the cause of this seatbelt problem. Therefore, they will not repair it as it does not constitute a manufacturer's defect. I do not feel safe driving with my seatbelt in this condition. I am hoping that the NHTSA can guide me in the right direction for a resolution to this matter.
