In September 2022, I scheduled my 50k service after repeatedly getting a yellow battery warning that was fix itself and go away. The soonest any Audi Dealership could get me in was February 14, 2023. Scheduling for maintenance has been an issue with Audi for the past 2 years. At the time I scheduled maintentance, my car had approximately 43,700 miles.
On February 2, the yellow battery warning along with other warnings flashed on, then off. Because of this, I decided to take my car to the Audi Dealership for emergency servicing. While on the way, I received a yellow warning light that the auto start/stop was malfunctioning and then a warning stating "electrical system malfunction" with a yellow battery icon. The "electrical system malfunction" with a red battery icon appeared as well as a transmisstion and steering warning appeared. Before I knew it my car was sitting in traffic unable to move. Soon the electrical system was completed dead and I was locked in my car for a short time. I contacted Audi Roadside assistance to have my car towed to the Audi Dealership.
Once at the Audi Dealership, I was told there were approximately 56 cars there with the same problem and another 100+ at the other Audi Dealership. Additonally, I was told it would be 6-8 months before my car could be repaired due to parts and because of this I qualified to have my Q8 bought back by Audi USA and the credit applied towards a new Q8. After contacting Audi USA to file a claim that day, I was told I could not file a claim yet because my car had not been in the shop for at least 10 days or the Q8 had not been in the shop for at least 3 times for this issue. I was told to call on February 13, 2023 to file my claim.
On February 14, 2023, I called to file my claim and was told I did not qualify due to mileage. I have no idea what the mileage was at the time of the failure and only guessed 52000 when asked. Because of this, Audi stated I did not qualify for the buyback because the mileage that I guessed was above the 50k mileage limit even though my car has experienced the same failure as those they agreed to buy back. I've made several requests for a manager to call me and no one has. I was told a manager by the name of Emily claimed she called and left a voice message according to the notes, but I can attest I have not received a voicemail or call from anyone at Audi.
When I visited the Audi dealership on February 14, 2023, I learned that on January 31, 2023, Audi USA issued an unlimited warranty for the failed generator. Not having my car with my disabled veteran plates has caused me to unjustifiably adopt additional expenses.
