* 2015 Audi Q7 TDI purchased new in OCT-2018. So, 4 year Audi warranty in place.
* Time Chain failure at 43,475 miles and 3 years into the warranty.
* First Audi dealership car was taken to would not acknowledge the existence of a Powertrain warranty.
* Contacted (Live chat) with Audi USA to review the vehicles warranty status.
* Audi USA sees that the vehicle has a NVLW (New Vehicle Limited Warranty) dated OCT-2018, thus covering the car until OCT-2022
* The first Audi dealership tells me the engine is covered, but the timing chain and tensioners and other related components are not covered under the warranty as they are considered "wear and tear". I understand "wear and "tear", but the damage to the engine was caused by a wear and tear item that failed well within expectations and within the warranty period.
* Reconnect with Audi USA and they assured me the entire repair is covered under the NVLW.
* Took to second Audi dealership. They performed a thorough inspection up to a point and determined the engine was damaged beyond repair. They submitted the finding to Audi engineering. Audi Engineering determined as "unrepairable" and have decided to have new engine replacement.
* RESULT: Audi is replacing with new replacement engine and ALL accompanying components.
* I had to get Audi USA involved as the warranty was not be honored by the first Audi dealership.
* I had to get Audi USA involved as issues with the timing chain for a diesel engine and tensioner going bad at such low mileage (43,375) was highly suspicious. I asked around with 3 German auto repair centers.
