Audi has handled this TDI situation horribly. I live in the hills in Los Angeles and originally leased the car because I was under the impression that it was a clean car. The scandal broke 2 months after I leased it... I didn't realized there was an option to even opt out of the settlement, that was VERY unclear, so I opted in. When the fix rolled out, I did it. I did not realize when I took my car into the dealership to get the fix that they were removing the down hill control function where the car automatically slows down when you're in the hills. I now have to ride my brake the entire time and I already had to change my brakes (I believe around 13-14k miles) and I only have 16k miles and when I did the fix they said my brakes were already 33% worn out. I'm now concerned that the brakes are going to go even quicker making the operating cost of the car even higher. I called several dealerships to see if I could get out of my car (I have 12 months left on the lease) to find out that part of the settlement prohibits any dealership to buy you out of your lease if you lease through Audi Financial. (If you lease through a 3rd party, dealerships can buy you out, how is this possible!?!) This is completely absurd that Audi would lock the customer into a car that is not today what we originally leased. The dealerships want the car and want to help the customer but Audi and Audi Financial Services are doing nothing to help us. I should mention that this is my 8th Audi/VW and I'm now PISSED and done with Audi forever. I should have been done with them back in 2012 when they sold me a certified pre-owned Q7 that had a clear carfax and some how passed their inspection but I later found out when I went in for my 1st service that it had been in a major accident where the airbags were deployed and there was damage to the frame that made it impossible to align the car. The manager of Beverly Hills Audi (Sam) bullied and threatened me. He told me good luck going up against Audi USA and that this was the best deal I was going to get and that he didn't need to do anything help me. I reminded him that he sold me this car that they said had never been in an accident. He said that sometimes accidents are reported late to carfax. I then asked how it passed their inspections if the airbags were deployed and the frame was damaged. He then got nastier... I ended up leaving with a new Q7 that I leased and my payment was $100 more. Lesson learned... I can't wait to get rid of this car and welcome all advise.
