This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Doors must be forcefully closed in order to fully lock. Frequently the doors (any of the 4 on the car) do not close upon vehicle entry. No warning that the door is not closed is provided by the vehicle. I have driven many miles with this unsafe condition, only to discover that the door was not fully latched upon my arrival at my destination. The rear hatch on this car also spontaneously closed down on me when I was loading packages into the cargo area. The car is equipped with hands-free hatch opening which erroneously interpreted my movement while loading the packages as a command to close the hatch. The sensor is under the rear bumper, centered right where one would stand while loading the car.
