Purchased vehicle knowing some mechanical maintenance was needed over $2000. Replaced cats, pcv valve, and several plastic coolant hoses, intake manifolds, battery, and a few other things I can't think of right now. But any how, Vehicle has been driving great for about 5 months, until the other day I started it up and noticed its knocking. Sounded like a lifter, bent valve, rod knocking, timing chain guide broken, LOL, I listened a little closer and began researching again I narrowed it down to the lower timing guides being broken causing a chain slap against the casing. Took it to a local well known shop that services Audi's and they confirmed it is the lower tensioner failing. Est. $5,000 labor parts $2000. Repair costs $7,0000. No wonder why the car was only $6000.
