This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Transmission failure while driving on freeway. Fourth time in 3 years. Each time the transmission was replaced. Audi refuses to acknowledge the failure of the cvt transmission on that model. It is a danger to public safety.
The contact owns a 2002 Audi A6. While driving approximately 25 mph the vehicle began to hesitate while accelerating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic. The technician stated the transmission clutch plate would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 55,700.
Apparently Audi have known for ages that the cvt clutch has needed upgrading on this engine, but hasn't recalled the cars. We own a 2002 Audi A6 (3.0 engine & multitronic cvt).
