This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
ABS module failure. Blinking ABS light and flashing dash brake light indicating failure. It apparently is not uncommon on 1998-2002 Audi vehicles, A4 & A6 models alike.
The ABS control module fails intermittently causing the ABS brakes to only work when the ABS/brake warning indicator light is off. I have done quite a bit of research online regarding this and have found that this is a common problem with Audi's manufactured between 1996 and 2001.
ABS control module has failed on my 2000 Audi A6. From an internet search this appears to be an almost taken for granted repair/replacement item, I.e.; it happens to almost every vehicle. This is not an inexpensive item to replace (500-1300 dollars including labor). There are thousands of complaints, forums, blogs dedicated to this particular issue. I believe a recall is warranted. Please investigate this issue. Thank you.
