transmission leak transmission leak

At an oil change i confirmed confirmed these issues, second opinion yielded the same results; a failing output shaft seal on the transmission, a coolant water pump that's starting to fail and a seeping ATF oil pan.

I've tried to get Audi Canada to work on it as a part of their class action pump settlement but no dice. We probably missed these leaks because the oil changes were on the ground, and it seems like it's been going on for a while.

They had to change to a new transmission pan and seal, clean, road test, and inspect. For the output shaft the exhaust had to be removed, and heat shields, then the prop shaft to change the seal. They then cleaned it up and added fresh DSG fluid.

transmission leak transmission leak transmission leak transmission leak

Email sent to Audi head office on 04 July 2019- I did not receive an acknowledgment from Audi despite confirmation that it had been received. Care factor 0 i would say.

“In Nov 2017 I bought an dealer demo Audi A4 with approx 2000kms registered - VIN WAUZZZF45HA037821

Approximately 8 months later (17678kms) I took the car to get serviced by an independent mechanic who made the following observation “vehicle needs to be taken back to Audi dealer due to transmission oil leak”. Please see pictures below. At this point I was shocked to hear and see this and thought how could a brand new Audi (my first ever Audi) have a leak??!!!

On 18 June I took it to Barry Burke Audi in Berwick Vic who noted the following “ check and report on oil leak evident from transmission “Carried out first inspection of the vehicle and found current TPI. “Carried out TPI, customer needs to rebook or inspection on a month after TPI”

“Customer returned on 24/7/18 . Carried out checks as per TPI. Tested all ok.

After this transaction with Barry Bourke I took it to my independent mechanic who stated that Barry Bourke merely washed the car and there were signs of the leak starting again.

I then went back to Barry Bourke and expressed my disappointment with the whole experience.

They stated the following points “ we took pics initially and sent it to Audi headquarters - we washed it and tighten the bolts”

The second visit they stated that they had contacted Audi head quarters and they were advised that it was “sweating” and it was normal for cars to sometimes “sweat oil”.

They also remarked that although the previous 2 occasions they acknowledge a leak- they now deemed it as sweating and could not fix it due to Audi Australia wasn’t going to cover the costs of the repair.

So my question is - is it standard for your cars “ to sweat oil” from your transmission? Please advise.

My other question is- from the pics above- would you call that sweating or leaking? If its normal that your cars sweat oil- can you please outline where in your terms of purchase does it state this?

Ultimately I want my car to be fixed as I believe there is factory defect with the transmission. I have to say that I’m very disappointed with my first audi purchase and the manner in which the problem has been handled.

To say I’m very disappointed with this whole experience is an understatement.

After coming to you regarding my experience with Barry Bourke Audi and indicating to you that I was going to approach Victorian consumer affairs regarding my experience I took on your advise and took the car to Audi in Brighton for a second opinion.

They 1. Put powder to test if there was a leak ( requesting me to pay $60 for a loan car) or face a $5000 excess which I believe is on the verge of extortion)

2. They determined after my follow up that there was indeed a leak coming from the transmission- contradicting Barry Bourke Audi who initially stated that there was a leak but after attempting x2 to fix it called it “weeping” or “sweating” and claiming that you (Head office) had indicated that this was perfectly normal and that my car was “safe” and at the end of it- you weren’t going to cover the rapairs??!!

3. Audi Brighton proceeded to do the same as Audi Barry Bourke and tighten bolts etc.

4. After a month i came back stating that the car was leaking to which they attempt to again fix it - see attached service report.

Today, I’ve witnessed for my self via an independent mechanic who showed me the transmission was STILL leaking. See attached pictures that i took from my phone.

So... After, 6 attempts!! in a space of one and and a half yrs by 2 separate Audi dealerships to try fix the leakage - the car is still leaking! Never mind the number of hours that I have wasted and stress undergone due to this issue.

Please!!!! Put your self in my position - pleas ask your self how would you feel after my experience ??? I have lost faith in your dealerships to fix the car.

As my first ever purchase of an Audi car - I have to say its been a complete nightmare.....surely to be my last. I have the right to request compensation for the amount of time wasted and loss of wages but I haven’t - I have been beyond patient with this matter.

So moving forward- I will not accept any other offer for an Audi dealer to try fix the car. I want a whole replacement of the transmission box. I will go to an independent mechanic to assess and inform you as to what exactly needs to do be done to fix your /there cars at your expense.

Failing this - I will go directly to Victorian consumer affairs and contact all the various media organizations as I’m led to believe this is not an isolated incident”.
