I commute 40 minutes on the freeway and the alert sounds are pretty annoying with no way to turn it off. I get it could be life threatening but there should be an option to silence the alarm. I checked my VIN and there are no unfixed recalls on my vehicle.
I read about a similar issue where it was recalled and the root issue is corrosion on the wire connecting the passenger occupancy sensor. I tried to take a quick look and was unable to get to the wires. I did move the seat all the way up so that nothing is pinching below the seat front and passenger seat and the issue seems to have gone away for the last two days.
