Bought the car in March 2019 due to the low mileage and clean bill of health. When I bought it the rear tail light was out and the dealer replaced it before the deal was done, didn't think much of it. Since then the rear tail light went two more times and the blower motor went. Sign of things to come I guess.
Then in January, I was driving when the diagnostic system returned many errors saying all the lights were out. I pulled over to check what was going on and smoke started billowing into the cabin. I disconnected the battery which seemed to stop the smoke and towed it to the mechanic.
The mechanic found it was a total electrical short on the left side starting from the rear tail light melting all the wires, and the body control module overheated and caught fire. Insurance first agreed to cover it but then backed out leaving me high and dry once the extent of the damage was known citing mechanical failure as the reason not to cover me.
