This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The drivers seat lower trim facing the door breaks and causes a sharp broken area that could cut when entering or exiting the car, of if in an accident the driver could shift their body into this broken area. When the driver shift their weight latterly over a period of time within the seat the plastic trim breaks and exposes a U shaped metal support piece. I suspect this U shaped piece is used in the assembly installation of the seat and afterwards covered with the plastic trim. This defect has affected cars back to 2015, and Acura is just replacing the plastic trim piece. One can google "driver seat plastic breaking apart" and see that are many cases. I would like to see Acura manufacture a stronger plastic trim piece, or a taller one, or find a way to eliminate the exposed U shaped metal piece. Mine is a 2018 Tlx with 27,000 miles.
