In February 0f 2106 I purchased an Acura TLX with Tech Package. I purchased the car because I believed the Honda Motor Company to be an excellent, reputable car company who stands behind its products. I put $12,500 down and financed the balance for 60 months. My intention was to keep the car for 5 years. That did not happen.
Initially I was very happy with the car then in in August of 2017 I had a problem with the Navigation System and received an error message that the system shut off due to atmospheric pressure change. Dealer found message deleted message.
The car was fine until February 1, 2017 at that time the car hesitated from 2nd to third gear, the automatic idle stopped working and the car stalled at stop sign. Brought to dealer it was there for 4 days. Performed update and reprogrammed the computer. I was told by service technician that the problem was solved.
That was not the case on July30 2018 the car shakes and stalls when stopped at a light, stop sign or in traffic. Dealer performed update and reset tcm and reset ppm and performed idle learning procedure. At this time I was wary of driving the car and fearful for my safety. The Service Technician assured the problem was fixed at that the Honda Motor Company is great company that stands behind its cars. The car was fine. In fact I made Service appointment for an oil change on December 4, 2108. However on Saturday, November 24, 2018 the car stalled while I was stopped at a light late at night. This terrified me because I believed the car was fixed and safe to drive. I contacted the dealer and spoke with the Service Manager first thing on Monday. He asked me to bring the car in but would not have a loaner car for me until Tuesday November27, 2018. While driving the car to the dealer on Tuesday Morning I was stopped on the highway for road construction the car stalled. Each time I had to put the car into park and restart it. I was terrified of being hit and very upset because my safety is at risk in this car.
I left the car at the dealer and on Friday, November 30 they telephoned and informed me to pick up the car . The Service Manager stated they could not recreate the stalling. I explained that this is the third time this problem occurred and I am not willing to put my safety at risk in a car that stalls intermittently. My safety is most important to me. No one could guarantee that the stalling would not reoccur. I felt I had no other choice but to trade the car in. I decided to give the dealer another chance and I leased a new vehicle because according to research the power train, transmission problems that occurred in the 2015 TLX did not occur in models since 2017.
I have filed a complaint with the CT Lemon Law in an effort to get my deposit returned. This has been a nightmare and I am very upset because as a Consumer my complaints are dismissed by the dealer and Acura because intermittent stalling cannot be recreated. I have found 1,968 complaints similar to mine in the 2015 TLX. I am disappointed that Honda will not acknowledge that the problem exists and work with its customers to satisfy them.
