The contact owns a 2007 Acura TL type-S. the contact stated that the vehicle would make a grinding noise when shifting into reverse gear and within a few minutes, the vehicle would shift out of third gear on its warning while driving. The failure occurred on an intermittent basis. He took the vehicle to the dealer. The manual transmission was rebuilt twice but the failure has continued to occur. He took the vehicle to another dealer who stated that they could not offer him any assistance because there was nothing wrong. The vehicle had not been repaired again when the complaint was filed. He called the manufacturer and he was told that they could not offer him any assistance until the failure could be duplicated. The current mileage was approximately 27,500. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

When the clutch was released, the transmission immediately shifted into neutral without assistance. The failure occurred at any speed and without warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they flushed the transmission. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on twelve separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions. The transmission was rebuilt twice. There is no injury. I have a 2007 Acura TL type S with a 6 speed manual. The clutch began to slip and not operate like it did before. I have driven stick shift for 5 years. This is not my first manual car but my 7th manual car. I know how to drive manual. The clutch gave out at around 28,000. Acura of riverside has looked at it and said the clutch is no good and needs to be replaced. He also said a few weeks ago another Acura TL type S has replaced the clutch. The service tech has quoted me over $2,000 to get the car working. I believe that Acura has a problem with the manual transmission as they did with the automatic transmission in the pass. My other cars lasted between 120K to 150K with the factory clutch. I have research online and other problem are having this problem. It is only fair that they fix this issue as a defective instead of making the consumer pay for their problems. They refused to fix it and consider it my fault. I believe it is a on going problem and I am not the only one with this problem.
