I recently noticed a small crack on my dash that within two days time spread to be approximately the width of my dash. The scary thing is the first crack appears to be the outline of my passenger seat airbag. I'm scared if it continues to get worse, the airbag my deploy unexpected if I have to slam on brakes for any reason. Now I have cracks all of the front of my driver side dash as well. They appear to continually get worse. I use a sun shade and have been applying a lot of interior car care conditioner but none of it has delayed the cracks at all. I am really scared this may cause an issue with my air bag.
The dashboard on my 2004 Acura TL has recently started to crack, starting small and growing in several places. Checked acurazine website to find over 44,000 like complaints. Most start above the passenger airbag starting from the windshield to the top of the glove compartment.
2004 Acura TL severely cracked dashboard on the passenger side. I have 2 vertical cracks on the passenger side of my 2004 Acura TL. The cracks were not gradual they both happened suddenly overnight. I have not had any accidents or collisions that may have caused this defect and am realizing that the problem is quite common amongst 04 Acura TL owners. From pictures on online forums the cracks appear to be identical in all cases.
My 2004 Acura TL has a crack on the dashboard that outlines the airbag. The crack appears to get longer and diverges in other directions over time.I am worried that if the air bag was to deploy, pieces of the dash will come flying to the car's inhabitants and may also potentially alter the trajectory and velocity of the airbag. Acura is unwilling to admit that this is a safety concern and refuses to replace my dash. I have been researching online and have found several complaints matching my exact issues. Several dashboard cracks along the passenger airbag and all over the dash. Concerned as it is causing the airbag sensor warning light to be engaged. This can be a potential hazard as the airbag my fail in a collision or engage and release at any moment.
2004 Acura TL dashboard has horrible cracks on the passenger side around the airbags. There are smaller cracks around the speedometer panel near the windshield. The large passenger side cracks could cause the airbag to not properly deploy. This is not an isolated issue. Over three hundred Acura TL owners have joined a facebook group regarding this issue but the number of effected owners is probably in the thousands. www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash. Acura is not stepping up and we need help. www.wsbtv.com/news/27832796/detail.html.
My Acura TL has a long crack on the passenger side. All the way from the windshield down the right side of the rectangular air bag indent. Later in the afternoon it got longer. Almost all the way down to the glove compartment. This will defiantly affect airbag passenger deployment if deploy. I called my local dealer and told them about it. They said that this is not an Acura problem. Apparently it is, knowing more than 1000 people with this problem. Check www.acurazine.com (cracked dashboard) and you'll find it, also there is a on facebook. This is my first Acura. Really surprised at the quality of these parts. For a luxury car at $32K it's almost not worth it. Already had the water pump recalled and some other parts recalled. Not only that, my airbag light is starting to light up intermittently. At 90,000 miles seems like it's falling apart. My '97 Camry had 200,000 miles and still ran like a champ until I traded it in for this thing.
The contact owns a 2004 Acura 3.2tl. While the contact was driving approximately 50 mph, the airbag warning indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure occurred whenever the engine was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician informed that the dashboard exhibited a hairline crack near the front passenger airbag housing which caused the airbag sensor to activate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.
My 2004 Acura TL has a crack in the dash board around the passenger side airbag. This is not an isolated incident as I have recently learned that other 2004 and 2005 Acura owners are having the same issue. I am worried because the crack is spreading and does not seem at all safe. I attempted to contact Acura corporate and Honda and was told I would have to pay to correct an obviously defective part.
Multiple cracks are on the passenger side, and a deep gash appears on the cowling over the instrument cluster. It's a high-end car, and you pay big money for it, and you shouldn't have big cracks in your dashboard, don't know, you know with a crack like that, if the airbag were to deploy if it would cause any sort of malfunction.
I have 7 cracks in the dash of my 2004 Acura TL. It started with 2 long cracks, one over the instrument panel and one in the passenger air bag cover. Over the past 13 months 5 more cracks have appeared in the dash between the first 2 original cracks. These cracks are unsightly and may be a safety hazard since the passenger air bag cover is involved.
2004 Acura TL - 56,000 miles. Completely cracked dashboard around the passenger side airbag. I am worried about my passenger's safety as the cracks look as if they could interfere with the airbag deployment.
I have an 2004 Acura TL with cracked dash on multiple location including one next to the airbag which could be could be a safety hazard. There is even a face book group "Acura TL defective dash" with hundreds of Acura TL owners experiencing the same problem, but Acura/Honda is not willing to do anything about it.
2004 Acura TL. The interior dash suddenly formed cracks forward of the steering wheel and over the passenger airbag system. My concern is that the cracked dash will impact passenger airbag deployment in case of an accident. I purchased an extended warranty for the car through Acura when I purchased the car in 2004 which is still in force. The local Acura dealership claimed the dash replacement was not covered.
