My husband bought the car from a friend. When he bought it, it was having a rough ridle issue. The RPM gauge would go up and down and the car would act like it was going to die. We tried replacing the spark plugs and the o2 sensor on it, but nothing we tried would fix it.
We took it to a shop to get it fixed. It only cost us around $200 but that was only because of a misunderstanding between us and the manager that was there at the time. We took it there twice for the same problem, because the first time they claimed to fix it, the problem returned. The second time, they actually managed to fix it. They didn't tell us what they did to fix it.
While the car doesn't have a rough idle anymore, the RPM gauge no longer works, it sits at 0 most of the time and erratically jumps up and down while the car is running.
