Connecting rod bering failure which led to damaged engine. There is a service bulletin (24-001) for poorly manufactured bearings that result in engine failure. It is for 2016-2020 MDX (and other models) with the 3.5 L engine. Unfortunately, mine is not covered under the service bulletin, only specific VINs are. Only 250,000 vehicles are covered, but based off of other sources it is likely 1,400,000 vehicles are affected. NHTSA opened an investigation #RQ24013 on 11/08/2024 for this problem. I’m submitting a complaint, if you’ve had this issue then you should too, here is the link:
Acura/Honda clearly have a widespread problem with their quality control and are laying the financial burden upon the consumer, not to mention the safety issue.
