problem #8

MDX Limited 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Vehicle has begun to hesitate at acceleration. Vehicle first hesitates then "catches up" by accelerating more than desired (lurching). When trying to maintain speed at 35mph and 45mph, the vehicle hesitates and there is noticeable engine/acceleration wavering with the tachometer needle oscillating by up to 500rpm.

When trying to maintain speed at 35mph and 45mph, the vehicle hesitates and there is noticeable engine/acceleration wavering with the tachometer needle oscillating by up to 500rpm. Problem is becoming more noticeable with "lurching" from acceleration becoming more pronounced and therefore more unpredictable.

MDX

  • Automatic transmission

Took the car to the dealer and was informed they had never heard of the problem. WRONG. The RPM's can be seen fluctuating on light acceleration and can be felt in the car. It is annoying to feel the hesitation as you drive. The dealer changed a sensor and said that was the issue. Did not correct anything. This is a common issue with the MDX and needs correcting

Purchased an Acura MDX 2014, Wed Oct 7, the next day noticed the issue with shifting, lurching, skipping with acceleration, when changing gears, even the RPM dial flutters. I took it back to the dealer. They would only trade me-- we did not want another 2014 model, but that's all they would trade for (3 days later!)We test drove 3 other Acura MDX, 2014 model, all but 1 had the exact same issue!!!! So we went for the one that did not do...only to find, now two days later on Monday Oct 10, same problem has presented itself. We've also talked to a friend with a MDX 2014, and he's having the same exact issue, started at 35k miles. Now I am stuck with a car payment on what I thought was going to be a great car, and 3 days in I'm having a possible engine/transmission problem. This was sold from Scott Clark Honda in Charlotte. There answer now is, well it's under warranty, if something major is wrong, you can get it fixed. The problem is, service also says they can't "duplicate it" by running it. My husband had to drive it to show it to them, and then they acknowledged that there is something wrong.

MDX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

Among the numerous other issues that I have been experiencing with this vehicle, it began to stall upon acceleration earlier this year. This can happen when pulling off after being stopped or even while driving in the 30-45 mph range. You can also see a noticeable fluctuation in the RPM dial. When I took it in to the dealership, they stated that they'd run a diagnostic and could not duplicate (which seems to be a common answer with this vehicle). The issue remains ongoing. If you are experiencing this issue as well...please file a complaint with the NHTSA.

MDX Awd Tech 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles

On light acceleration from a stoplight, car sometimes stalls for a second, then suddenly lurches forward in a low gear. Sometimes just leaps forward from stop with no hesitation. Causes passengers' heads to snap back and could be dangerous in heavy traffic. Can occur at operating temperature. When engine is cold, there is a lot of part throttle hesitation low speeds.
