In November I updated the GPS maps. During the installation the system seemed to be in a continuous reboot cycle. I called technical support and was told this is part of the installation process. Didn't seem right to me but I went with it. Finally, the system update was complete.
A couple of weeks later, upon startup, the GPS system (that also controls the radio) started again on a reboot cycle. It reboots 10-20 times during which you cannot do anything. NO radio, no map, can't select any options to make it stop. Then it stops, map comes up, radio stations aren't lost and all is good. Then a week or so later it starts again. I took it to the dealer once but they could not replicated the problem. The service manager told me to bring it in next time it happens. So, next time it happened, I stopped what I was doing and headed straight to the dealer. Half way there it stopped rebooting.
I am now completely stumped and frustrated. I've researched the issue online and it always seems to be a much older MDX (or other Acura model). Anyone have any idea on what to do. This is extremely frustrating, especially since the car is only two years old! Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Update from Jul 7, 2014: Here we are in July and the system had been stable. I narrowed it down to one particular area of town where it would reboot. I thought, something in that area is causing interference. If it was just that one area, no big deal. Over the past two weeks, the system seems to do the same reboot cycle but only for one or two cycles. Today, the map froze completely. It seems that the issue is getting progressively worse. I am going to contact my dealer to see if they have any ideas. Sure disappointed in Acura this time around.
