A month ago I replaced the battery myself with a new Sears Diehard. Before replacing I checked the alternator and it was providing the proper voltage to the battery. Then I replaced the old battery with the new one. This is not surgery - it's rather simple.
Problem 1 and resolution: I used the code to reset the radio. While driving the car dash indicator lights would randomly turn on and off. You name it, they all turned on or off independently and randomly. The radio would drop out and then come back. I searched the internet and found a fix. Turn off the engine. Put the key to the On position (do not start the engine) and have all electrical devices turned off (lights, radio, rear window heater, front window heater, etc). Press the gas pedal all the way to the floor for 30 seconds (I counted to 60 just to be safe). Release the gas pedal. Restart the car. It worked. Everything was normal for about 4-6 weeks.
Problem 2 and NO resolution so far: This evening (Jan 3, 2017) I drove the car to the bank and stopped the car for maybe 1-2 minutes. Came back and drove to pick up my daughter a few miles away. Then drove home - about 5-6 miles. As soon as I got home and put the gear into park, the entire car went dead. Absolutely dead. No headlights, no interior lights, no dash lights, no radio, nothing. The key would not start the car. There were no noises (as when the battery is weak and there is a clicking noise). Nothing. I had to lock the car manually as the keyless remote did not perform. I was driving the car with no problems. Suddenly there is no warning, no dash indicator lights, nothing - the car just dies, lilke a massive cardiac arrest.
