We had noticed a slight coolant smell for a period of time, but could not find a leak. Engine fan would run on for several minutes after an extended drive of 20-30 miles. Eventually the A/C stopped blowing cool air on a 90+ degree day. We suspected a A/C compressor failure and took the car to an independent shop for repairs. Mechanic reported that A/C was fine, but radiator was dry. He recommend a complete replacement. Once replaced, A/C was working fine again, and have not noticed the coolant smell since.
