The contact owns a 2001 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel from the fuel tank. The contact was concerned the failure could cause a fire. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,659.
Bad gas smell in the cabin, happens everyday. Was told this is a very common occurrence in this car and a factory defect. I know there is a recall for the 05 MDX gas tank, it needs to apply for the 01 as well.
