This is very bad!!! Overall the Acura EL 1.6 is a very good peppy, reliable and economical car but this problem is a mystery. It's a ghost! Plus it's intermittent and only happens once in a blue moon!
These types of problems are usually related to faulty ignitions or fuel pumps. I had them changed...to no avail! Changed ignition coils, distributors, spark plugs, wires, batteries, alternators and starers...problem persists.
This is extremely weird and no one can figure it out. Happens once every 2-3 months in all conditions and hours...hot, cold, slow, fast...etc.
It just shuts down and coasts to a halt... and won't fire back up. It takes an hour to rest up and fire up.
To our America friends who don't have the Acura EL...it's basically the same thing as a Honda Civic 99-2000.
