I have had the same problem on more than one occasion due to a faulty intermediate steering shaft that was put into my vehicle during manufacturing. It is becoming difficult to turn the steering wheel. It's also feels very unsafe when I make a turn. It feels like it is going to get stuck and flip. This is a very common problem with these vehicles as well as several others. I have discovered they made a new intermediate shaft since the original was a bad design. I was just quoted slightly less than $300 to get this new part installed. I would like to know why I have to pay for an extremely common, faulty part when this should clearly be recalled.

This is the worst most unsafe car I've ever owned. The power steering goes out from time to time the automatic lockout for the doors don't always work. The rear drivers side door doesn't lock out unlock at all. There are obvious electrical issues the buttons on the drivers side door work when they want to. The drivers side door also operates some sort of switch to kill power to the radio when its opened it is no longer working correctly. Its only a matter of time before this car has a deadly malfunction. The trans mission doesn't shift correctly. We have been told by GM that there is nothing wrong with the transmission and if we want them to check the other issues we will have to pay for diagnosis and repair as they are not known issues, however just google any one of the above mentioned issues and there are plenty of other owners out there with the same problems and no one is forcing GM to take responsibility I'm sorry but I don't think that when you pay $20,000 for a vehicle that there should be this many problems after a few years.

While accelerating, the car jerks wildly to the left, approximately a foot or more. The vehicle has 4 brand new tires, and has recently had a front end alignment. This issue poses a real danger to the occupants of the vehicle, as well as others on the road.

I just bought this car from bobb Suzuki columbus Ohio 12/05/2011. When test drove heard the noise but was not doing it that much. But as time went on it got more frequent when U turn left/right and takeoff/stopping. Has 47K on it dealer will not pay to fix it. I feel I am not liable to pay as I didn't know of the issues that was on these cars. Did research online this is a big issue with others that own these G6 cars. They need to recall them and make it right by the consumers it can become a safety issue. Thank you,

My power steering seems to be going out and it is not a lack of fluid issue and the steering wheel makes squeaking noises every time you turn it. It is very hard to steer at times as well. I noticed previous year Pontiac G6's have a problem and so do G5's so I am filing this in hopes that others are complaining as well and a recall is soon issued.

Initial issue began while driving at low speed but resolved without issue. Since initial onset the steering problem has become more frequent and sporadic at all speeds. Sometimes while the car is parked the steering wheel will bobble left to right. The problem has become worse and now happens at highway speeds causing the vehicle to be difficult to control, as if the wheel is locking a few degrees left or right. The steering also feels very heavy, the car gives no warning before, during or after regarding this problem. Noticeable motor-like noise coming from steering column while steering wheel is bobbling. Dealer inspected, could not find problem, no bad codes were noted. However, issue continues with control problems.

Failure with power steering in 2008 Pontiac G6 caused me to get into a car accident. The steering wheel wouldn't move, it had locked up. Caused me to lose control of the car doing 360's on the highway, hitting the concrete median about 4 times going 55mph. Front, back, both side panels and entire right side of car were severely damaged. I had severe whiplash as well as slipped disks in my neck. Had about $6,000 worth of repairs but insurance covered it. However insurance did not cover the costs or replace the power steering column. They claimed it was not an issue, however my light had been going on for about a month prior. I cannot afford it so therefore have not gotten it fixed. The power steering issue began in may of 2011. The factory warranty had expired in March.

There's several issues with this car. First, the front right suspension is bad causing the car to shake. Second, I suddenly lost control of the car on the highway almost causing a severe accident while driving approximately 55-60 mph. It felt like the steering power was no longer working. Last, both back door locks stopped working a couple of months after I purchased the car. I always have to let down the window in order to manually unlock the doors. Most of these issues occurred at 46,000 miles.
