Wrangler Unlimited 3.8L

  • 203,000 miles

So I just had my catylitic converter replaced so I can get the damn jeep inspected and as I am driving down the road it backfires and then starts to chug down the road missing and sounding like sh*t. The engine light come on blinking like warning, warning I am going to blow up.... I am beside my self... Call the dealer and I am pissed off. So bad I had to hang up...... Called my ex about it and he said he would take it to a friend to have it checked. I have been doing some research and have found that the TIPM is what is wrong. Something I have been saying all along. To several dealer mechanics. Shouldn't this have been resolved for me a long time ago. This was a recall way back in 2007. I don't think that I was notified if this. I have kept all my recalls and have had them all fixed, but nothing about the TIPM. What the hell!,,,

Wrangler Unlimited 4door X

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

So... I bought my Wrangler Unlimited in August of 2010 with about 74,000 miles on it. I have been waiting forever to find one that I could afford. Clean title and all that. This is my third wrangler and sixth jeep total. After purchasing it, the engine light came on so I took it to the shop at my work. They said they would start from the beginning and hook it up to the machine. All in all... I replaced wires and changed o2 sensors before deciding to take it to the jeep service department. There they said that it would need to have the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) replaced... so after a couple of weeks and many trips back to the Jeep service department, they put a new one in it and thankfully it was covered under an Emissions warranty up to 80,000 miles (just about missed the mark on that one). After driving the jeep for a few days, the light comes back on and the jeep service department tells my shop at work to replace some wiring to a part that didn't make any sense.

Needless to say... the engine light pops on and off whenever it wants and I am living with it. For the most part it is staying off, but will come on every other couple weeks. The jeeps not driving funny so I am living with it.

Wish jeep would fix the problem. I am a big fan of Jeep and don't want to change to a different model, but if Ford comes out with a 4WD convertible... I would be very tempted.
