The contact owned a 2019 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH when another vehicle was making a right-hand turn crashed into the vehicle's front end and side of the passenger's side front panel. The steering wheel air bag failed to deploy. The contact received a concussion and burns to the left arm. Medical attention was needed. The contact was unsure if the occupants in the other vehicle received any injuries. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The other vehicles received damage to the body of the vehicle as well. A police report was filed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
I was driving speed limit, car in front of me stopped without enough notice and I hit the vehicle in front of me. Driver's airbag deployed with a loud pop and a cloud of smoke poured out from the airbag. My left forearm was burning and when I looked at my arm I watched my skin blister while the skin peeled away. 2nd degree burn was treated at local urgent care. The car I was driving is a company vehicle owned by my employer.
2019 Chevrolet Trax. Consumer writes in regards to takata airbag safety recall. The consumer stated the dealer has had possession of the vehicle for 103 days. The manufacturer was contacted and stated the parts necessary to complete the repair were unavailable.
