vibration in steering wheel when going fast over road bumps

Since the first day that I drove the vehicle at over 60 mph on the highway I could feel a vibration in the steering wheel when I went over bumps. The type of bumps that I encountered were expansion joints, change of pavement joints and joints where the road goes over a bridge or overpass. The intensity of the vibration changes as speed is increased. It felt as if the suspension lost it's compliance and is not responding to changes in the road surface. On one occasion I hit a road bump on the highway going about 60 mph and it felt as if the suspension stopped working for about 2 to 3 seconds. With no suspension it felt as if the energy from the bump caused a jarring sensation in the steering rack and steering wheel. This has only happened once. After this event I made and appointment with the Benz dealer to test drive the car. On my first visit they drove the car and found nothing wrong. They only drove the vehicle on city streets below 40 mph. This was not acceptable so I made a second appointment for a test drive on a special designated route. The shop foreman drove my vehicle with me as the passenger and confirmed the vibrations in the steering wheel. He next drove a different vehicle of the same model and was able to feel the same vibrations in the steering wheel. The suspension was checked on the lift but no problems or codes were found. I next went to the maintenance manager and he made arrangements to test drive a third vehicle. This time he used a new vehicle from their inventory and the same steering wheel vibrations were felt. At this point I am waiting to hear back from the dealer. I have spoken with other GLC drivers and they notice the same problem.

Update from Aug 30, 2016: I first contacted Mercedes Bend customer care department and my MB dealer in July 2016. They both responded to my suspension complaints quickly. They both understood that this was more than just a single vehicle issue but a problem that affected multiple GLC300 4matics. MB customer care reached out to my dealer to develop a solution to the problem. In mid August I received a call from MB customer care that MB suspension engineering was developing a solution to the suspension problem and would have it ready by sometime in October 2016. I hope that the fix will be a complete solution to the suspension problems.

Steering Wheel Vibrations

On March 17, 2016 I took delivery of the GLC300 4matic Launch Edition. This is my first purchase of Benz vehicle. I like everything about the car except the suspension. I have never driven a vehicle that drives the way this one does. It is not what I would expect from Mercedes.

When I drive down the highway at 60 to 70 MPH and I hit a bump in the road the steering wheel vibrates. If I encounter a moderately severe bump (that any other vehicles would absorb with no problem) at highway speeds, the steering wheel vibration is amplified to a full shutter of the front end. I has happened on multiple occasions.

Two different Mercedes Benz shop foreman have driven my vehicle and other GLCs with all the same results. All of the vehicles have the same steering wheel vibrations and suspension problem. This is an issue that needs to be addressed by Mercedes Benz.
