CarComplaints.com Notes: Owners are reporting that their engines are running out of oil awfully quick. As in, 1 quart every 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains that’s with the “normal” operating range of the 2AZ-FE while owners maintain that’s complete BS.

The issue may be the result of defective piston rings.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle would not respond to acceleration attempts. The contact stopped the vehicle on the shoulder and noticed smoke coming from under the hood. The vehicle then became engulfed in flames. The police and the fire department reported to the scene to assist with extinguishing the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000. Updated 08/28/12* lj the consumer stated the battery wire caught fire.
