Today while driving on a three lane freeway on my way to work, my car started to brake on it's own. The feature for crash prevention was turned OFF. I was traveling approximately 65 miles per hour and the nearest car in front of me was approximately 6-7 car lengths ahead. My brakes locked up on their own and then my steering wheel locked as well. My car steered to the lane to the left of me, thank goodness there were no cars next to me, and it continued to steer toward the median and all I could see were the cables and the cars coming toward me in the opposite direction. The entire time the car did not slow down and I continued to apply pressure to the brakes while attempting to turn the steering wheel to the right. Finally, I was able to turn the steering wheel and the brakes started working again, but my car jerked to the right and actually two wheels came off the road. I thought my car was about to flip when the wheels hit the road again but at this point my car started fish-tailing to the right and middle of the road. Cars around me were quickly moving to the right side of the road and horns started blowing (I want to believe the people were trying to help get other cars out of my way). Finally, I was able to stop my Jeep sideways in two lanes. After sitting there for about a minute and a gentlemen asking me is I was ok, I drove my Jeep to my office, about 1 mile down the road. I called my husband and then the dealership. I have an appointment on Wednesday to bring it in but the dealership told me that they have never heard of this happening before. I am going to post this complaint under Brakes and Steering as I want to find out if anyone else has experienced this with their Jeep.
