Elantra

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,400 miles

I'm just surprised that a new transmission has already had to go into the vehicle after just 3400 miles. It started hitching than banging. I stopped to put it in neutral. Then I put in drive and it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear.

Elantra

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,300 miles

While driving, I felt the car shuttering/vibrating. The RPMs were fluttering when driving at a constant speed. When accelerating the car did not accelerate properly and it felt like the gears were slipping.

Took several days for the dealership to look at my car & tell me I need a new transmission (covered under warranty).

Then took 2 more days to provide me with a loaner.

In the meantime, I had no transportation and had to find both a way home from the dealership and a way back to pick up the loaner. Not to mention transportation for work each day. From the time I couldn't drive my car until I got a loaner it was 9 days.

Transmission is on national back order (clearly there is a problem with the transmission that needs to be recalled).

8 days with the loaner, also a 2020 Elantra, the car stated having the SAME EXACT symptoms as my car. The loaner has only 3,000 miles. The car was undriveable and I had to call roadside assistance and get it towed. They paid for a lyft ride home and I was about an hour from home. Whole process of calling roadside assistance, getting the car towed, and getting home took 4 hours. The day was ruined.

How can I trust my Elantra once it is fixed? How can I feel safe driving a car when I had the same problem on two different 2020 Elantras?

Clearly Hyundai has a big problem with the transmissions on the 2020 Elantras. Why is there no recall yet?

What was done to prevent the same problem from happening with my new transmission? What will happen with the warranty if I have the same problem after already getting the transmission replaced? These are all questions that I have for the service department when I pick up my car.
