Driving down the road, screen displays "Low Battery Accessories are unavailable". A few miles later, the batter light comes one and dings. Then about half mile later, I lose all power steering, power brakes, and the dash and radio screen are flashing and dinging. I am able to limp the pickup to the mechanic. I am told the Ecoboost needs a high amp alternator which costs almost $500 plus labor to install. I am very disappointed in my F150 and will never own another Ford.

F-150 STX 5.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

Started a few months ago. If I didn't drive it everyday the truck would have no power, if it was started at least once withing 24 hours it was good.

Battery light was coming on. If I turned the engine off the warning light would come on "system shutting off to save battery". The other warning I have noticed as if lately is the "service advancetrac, check brake system". That might be completely unrelated but I noticed it as if lately.

The battery is 8 months old, it was tested at autozone and showed no issues. I replaced the alternator last week.

I hooked up the multimeter, it was reading 2.6ma when everything was shut off. Normal should be around .5 Something is drawing when the engine is off. I pulled out every fuse one by one under the hood and in the cab, nothing would bring the m.a. down.

*It does have an ignition interlock device on it, had it in for almost 3 years but never had an issue with it before until recent.

Any ideas???!!

After I turn off the key, the message displays that it is being turned off to save the battery. I checked the voltage on the battery and connections and they are good. Probably connected to the vampire power drain issue I also have. This is 1 of about 15 major problems I have with this truck.

It's been about a week but it started to get my attention today. When I put my keys in the ignition it says battery low going into save mode. I tested my battery today and it was reading strong. The truck never had an issue to start. It's very annoying to have the light come on everyday and now I can't listen to the radio when the truck is off. The worst part is nobody has a solution !!!

battery saver displays low battery when fully charged

What happens when this occurs after my warranty expires in another year and there continues to be no problem found and no problem fixed.

Has anybody had the low battery indication on their 2013 f150? I bought the vehicle new in March of 2014. When it gets around 0 degrees F. and the vehicle sits in my garage over the weekend, the low battery indication comes on when I start it up. My commute to work is 17 miles and it takes me app. 30 minutes to get to work. When I shut the vehicle off the low battery indication comes on, it tells me to remove keys from the ignition which I already have. Then the radio will shut off about 30 seconds later. I brought it to the Ford garage, and they told me that this is a common problem and said their is nothing that can be done about it. I am going to make an appointment for it and have them do a check on the charging system, check all the connections, and check the volts and amp draw when the vehicle is not running. Please contact me with any info on this problem.
