We bought a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 Conversion Van brand new. This is our first time ever buying a Dodge vehicle period. Since having this vehicle we have had nothing but ongoing problems with the oil reaching the motor. In 1999 I started hearing a loud noise, oil light came and the vehicle just cut off. We took it to the Dodge dealer and they took it apart and told us that it needed desludging, at 48,611 miles; so we had the work done it cost us $900.00 dollars. Here it is, three years later and the same program has arisen but this time it has a lot of sludge in the oil pan which has caused the bearings in the engine to go bad. The mechanic informed us that they could try and replace the bearings but there would be no guarantee and that's costing $1,260.00. We called the Chrysler Corporation and spoke to one of their representatives who took our complaint. We asked him if he had any complaints about this problem we are experiencing, he stated no. We also told him that there must be some type of manufacturer problem and he said no, so we then asked if they could help us with service cost and he said no because the vehicle has been running for seven years. I told him that the motor should last for more than seven years and he said we can not help you. I will be writing to the CEO of Chrysler Corp. We are so mad that this company would not help but I know if they did they would be admitting that there is a problem. If any one is having the same problem with their Dodge Ram 2500 Conversion Van, Please e-mail me using the link below. We will not ever buy another Dodge vehicle.
