I notice the vibration in aug. 2019, right after I got hit in a front tire. So my concern was damage that you couldn't see. I took it in Sept for an oil change & tire rotation. I mentioned it to the service dept. Well, they told me everything looked fine. The vibration & noise got worse. Looked on line & found carcomplaints.com & seen there was a bulletin on this issue, So I take it back with this information & I get a call telling me I need tires. I asked about the bulletin & I was told oh no, we checked the trains fluid, & there was no need to look further. It's the tires. Bought tires, $784.00.

I go pick it back up. As I'm driving home the vibration & noise is present, I look down @ my miles to figure out they didn't even drive my truck!! I turn around & go back & said what the hell, I thought you were 99% sure this was it. 4 hours later they tell me, yeah we have to flush the trans fluid. They sent me home with my truck to come back up the next day cuz they didn't have a loaner. They do what they do. It's been 600 miles & It's still vibrating (smoother) but it's still there PLUS now there is a knocking or (sounds like a helicopter). So I take it back. They have it for 7 days, 2 techs drive it a hole 17 miles & found nothing, I'm so fed up. I now am recording the noise, speed, distance, & contacted GM headquarters to complain. I'm expecting them to blow sunshine up my rear also.

Update from Nov 4, 2021: That 2019 ended with a SECOND NEW set of tires, AFTER 7 (WEEKS) in the shop. That was after the trans fluid was drained. So fast forward to 2021 + 50,000 miles. Guess what starts happening again?! Slight vibration, jerking in 1st gear. I had to have the fluid drained again, The filter was so dirty. The mechanic said if this doesn't work... I will definitely need a new transmission. But even if he needed to, he can't get a transmission or parts for me because the world is going Covid crazy. It cost me a couple hundred $. It's been two weeks now & it's slipped here & there.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,356 miles

Purchased 2017 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab with V6 and 8 speed automatic transmission in July 2017. Noticed shudder around 3000 miles. Like the truck was going over rumble strips. Dealer flushed transmission per service bulletin 16-NA-175 three times. Stated there was a lot of debris in fluid. That fixed problem until same shudder reappeared in June 2018 at 17,000 miles. Replaced torque converter, filter and fluid. That fixed the problem until July 2019 at 39,000 miles and same condition reappeared AGAIN. Dealer told me that a new service bulletin recommended flushing the system twice with a new type of fluid. Said GM was no longer replacing the torque converter because the wrong transmission fluid had been used previously. Said that new service bulletin had fixed 20 trucks with transmission shudder since February 2019. Not certain I believe that story, but my truck goes in for service next week. Keeping my fingers crossed. I really like this truck, but this issue is becoming unbearable.

Colorado LT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

At 5,000 miles the truck became to shudder at around 50 to 60 MPH. The entire truck would vibrate horribly. The truck would also not shift correctly after slowing and then accelerating again. The transmission felt like it couldn't decide which gear it should be in and would jerk and feel like the transmission would slip and then grab. Extremely annoying.

Took the truck to the dealer, and there was some bulletin about this issue. Truck was brought in for a transmission "flush." That was "supposed" to fix the issue. It did NOT fix the issue. After another 5000 miles of driving, the dealership agreed to replace the torque converter. The torque converter was replaced, but the truck still has the shudder and shifting issues, although they are not nearly as severe.

After working with Chevrolet customer service, I was informed that the truck is "performing" under specifications and they are dropping the issue, which means I have to leave with the problems. I can't believe Chevrolet would design and manufacture a vehicle that would have such issues and in reading past issues, this is not a NEW issue with GM. Basically, Chevrolet has told me to deal with it as they will do nothing more about this issue. This was NOT an inexpensive truck! Totally unacceptable!

Colorado Z71 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Just purchased this truck Excellent condition, but after a week I noticed it is shuddering around 40-60 MPH while on small inclines. The shudder reoccurs and sounds/feels like I am running over pedestrian cross-walk warnings on the road. Taking it to dealer soon. I called ahead and they are aware of the issue, so I guess we will see what solutions they have.

I found the following bulletin that describes exactly the issue.
